March 2nd-March 10th
High School: Latin American Art
Students will be learning about various forms of Latin American art including pieces from the Aztecs, Mayans, Mexico, and the caribbean. They will create a project based on some form of art from those cultures. Due March 10th at the beginning of class.
Elementary School: Blind drawing/Watercolor Flowers/Sea Turtles.
Students will be learning about drawing what they see by looking at a picture of a flower and using a "blinder" over their pencil so they cannot see what they are drawing. After drawing the flower several times blindly, they will look at the similiarities of shapes and then turn their paper over draw the flower being able to see. The will then trace their pencil marks with a white crayon and paint watercolor over it to reveal the design underneath. Due when completed
Students who have completed the above project will be learning about sea turtles and the different colors and shapes they have. They will learn how to draw a turtle and design their own shells on the backs of them using crayons. Next they will crumple their papers up carefully and then paint blue watercolor over top of them which the crayon designs will repel. The crinkles in the paper will give the illusion of the turtles being underwater. Due when completed.

High School: Asian Art Projects
Students will be learning about various forms of Asian art including architecture, costumes, paintings, landscapes, etc. They will then be choosing a medium in which to work with and create a project that is inspired by some form of Asian artwork. Due February 26th at the beginning of class.
Elementary School: Blind drawing and watercolor paintings.
Students will be given a picture of a flower, paper, pencil, and a "blinder" which consists of a piece of paper that the pencil is poked through. They will then have to draw the flower picture without being able to look at their hands or drawings while doing it. This excercise is to try and teach their brains to communicate with their hands and draw what they see. After they attempt the blind drawing, they will then look at their picture and be allowed to re-do the drawing without the blinder. Lastly, they will outline their pictures with white crayons and paint watercolor over it to reveal the white crayon lines underneath. Due when completed.
